Post Getting Heads, Cam, and Intake

I am installing an Edelbrock lntake and heads. Should I just get the matching cam, or find something else?

I want an aggresive cam, but I want to make sure I make the proper horsepower with that particular cam. Do any of the Edelbrock cams have a good thump along with good horsepower gains?

I would appreciate any information from anyone and everyone.

Thanks

I think you should go with the Edelbrock cam as its made to match and compliment the other parts your using. No guess work involved there.

which eld. set up are you going with? if it is the victor expect to make peak horse power 3000 to 7500rpm and at that rpm range you could run a radical cam. if you are going to run the performer a radical cam will run like crap. cam the will start to make good hp when the performer stops building hp at 5500 rpm. it is always better to go with the matching cam or get the cam specs and find the = of another brand. maybe a performer intake with an e cam or a victor with an x or z cam. an over cammed engine sounds thumpy at idle but they run like crap. the bigger the cam the higer rpms must be to get peak hp. so at higher rpms you need an intake that will supply enough air. and also you need a set of heads that can handle the amount of air supplied by the intake and cam combo. you should decide on a max rpm you want to push your motor to choose the intake and cam combo and go from there. if you want to stay about 5500 to 6000 the cam for that operating range is a pretty mild cam (e-cam, steeda19,or performer), matched parts perform best. remember if it sounds mean it better run meaner
