Default 95 distributor install problems

I have a 95 GT convertible (5.0) and the problem I have is this, I needed to have the pickup coil changed , it's on the distributor well, the person who changed it for me somehow ruined the distributor, it had to be pried out (by a mechanic) with the tire iron, the mechanic said everything was OK in the block so now I have a new distributor, I've done everything the right way installing it and my car still won't start, I've tried everything I know how to and no start. Can anyone give me any help on this? and yes I'm a girl

After removing the distributor it is hard to get a new one in without affecting the timing. How did you reset base timing?

I took out the #1 plug and did the pressure test. Good news though, I got it running today, the base of the disrtibutor was to big and had to be slightly sanded doun then it went right in and the timing was 180 out.
