Red face New Update on my mods & parts!!

OK guys Im back! Been a long time coming but I have been so busy its not even funny. I've been working alot mainly to save up for some car parts I just purchased + I just bought a house. LOL and im 22yr old with alot of bills. PLus i just bought a big fish tank, and blah blah blah. Engaged to get married this month....etc. etc..lol. So my cars had to take a back seat to some things, but now im about to get some more mods and is in the forefront of my things to do list now.

OK now that Im done with the catching up part, lol. On with whats new with my baby! I'll list what mods I have done since last time I posted and then the mod's I just ordered below that's to be installed this weekend once all of the parts come in.

Currently had installed:
-Lightened race flywheel
-New Stage 2 clutch

Parts I just ordered:
-2 Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet Mufflers
-1 off road x-pipe
-1 pair of 1 5/8" equal length shortie headers
-1 Long fender mounted cold air intake w/ K&n filter setup

*note: when i put on my new CAI i plan on cleaning my MAF; which from what i've been told is in my factory air box where my k & n filter is located. Plus i've read that this helps in throttle response. Can't wait to feel the differnece.

Installed parts from when I bought the car:
-new 3.73 gears
-mild cam
-monster rpm tach
-3" h-pipe
-under drive pulleys
-k & n filter in factory air box
- car is chipped of some sort, pushes past the rpm mark like its nothin. I've got up to 115-120 in 4th gear.
-white reverse glow gauges
-car is also gutted completely. only have front seats.
-car is dyno matted complete as well.
-(STOCK FActory headers, & mufflers) the mufflers where not flow master like i thought.

Ok guys once I get those new mods installed im finally gonna take her to the track and see what kinda time she'll put down. The guy I bought the car from told me it dynoed at 345hp & 330trq. I dont know if this is true, but I know I dont loose races against new 4.6gt's. So will you guys shoot me some times and hp numbers I could expect if I was just stock 302 with the mods I've done/ bought to be installed.

Thanks. Iceman!!!!

oh yeah, i cant wait to see how see sounds when i get my exhaust mods put on. well what do you guys think???

That guy flat out lyied to you!!! Brand new bone stock our cars had 215 flywheel hp and 285 flywheel tq. With the power adding mods that I see you have currently installed (mild cam, 3" h-pipe, k&n filter, chip of some sort), you are looking at about 230-235 flywheel hp. Once you add the rest of the exhaust and cold air kit around 240-250 flywheel hp.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but unless you are leaving out a lot of engine work (H/C/I/SC/orN2) you are no where near 345rwhp! You aren't loosing races against new 4.6 GT's? 05-06 GTs should walk away from you and 04 and older GTs will slowly do the same (with good drivers who are actually racing).

WELL YOUR NOT BURSTING MY BUBBLE. I WAS THINKING THAT IT WAS A LOAD OF BS. BUT HEY I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR $2,500 AND IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. HOWEVER, LIKE I SAID I'VE RACED GUYS IN NEW 4.6 GT'S LIKE UP TO A 03 MODEL AND NONE HAVE WALKED ON ME. SO I GUESS THEY ALL DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE OR I REALLY DO. I SEE YOU HAVE A SET OF HEADS IM BUYING NEXT FOR MY CAR WITH THOSE AFR165'S. WONDER WHAT YOUR TIMES LOOK LIKE AT THE TRACK. AND WHAT TIMES DO YOU THINK I CAN EXPECT WITH THE MODS AT THE TRACK. THANKS

ICEMAN!

I have not been to the track since before my major head/SC/fuel/mass air/tune upgrade. (I need a lot more traction). With a cold air kit, 70mm TB, pullies, x-pipe, flowmasters, and 3.55's I ran a best of 14.675 @ 95mph. That was in 2004 on the original dry-rotted Goodyear Eagles that came on the car. With AFR 165's I would say you could dip into the high 13's with some good traction/driving. Hope this helps. BTW, all caps is yelling on the internet.

Well I would go with the AFR 185s if you have the extra $300. well worth the flow rate.

basically the heads and headers are our biggest restrictions.

of course this is coming from a 207K mile stock motor. I am going to need to do a rebuild soon.

but who says Fords don't last??

I went with the 165's because the 185's require piston notching. Plus, the 165's can be machined more down the road once I drop in that R block with a 331 stroker in it. Now I'm just dreaming.

Iceman, you will love the 165's if you get them. Good luck on your mods!

The Car Is Lighter Than Stock So You May Put Down 13 Sec In The 1/4 Mile. Hp Is Closer To 250 Hp Without Any Heads.

Cool

OK guys, I just got all my new parts installed, and she fells and sounds like a new monster now.

Here's the completed list of mods I've added since owning the cars for 2 mths now.

Currently had installed:
-Lightened race flywheel
-New Stage 2 clutch
-2 Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet Mufflers
-1 off road x-pipe
-1 pair of 1 5/8" equal length shortie headers
-1 Long fender mounted cold air intake (oh and I cleaned my MAF...no one said it was just 2 little catodes that needed to be clean. Anywho. feels good behind the wheel.) CAI whistles everytime I switch gears like a blow off valve.

The x-pipe feels like a different power band. Like more hp for top end and a little less low end torque possibly. I've hav't dynoed or ran at the track yet to see the diff. just feels diff. still feels good tho. lol. The x-pipe rattles a little bit in first gear do to the clearnece, and my old busings are bad. new ones are like 11 bucks i think should stop the rattle. But man when I step on the pedal watch out. lol
Anyhow. I was thinking of getting a hypertec chip to add more fuel to the new fire of mods. ANy body have any experience with the chips. Are they worth the $230 from summit racing. Ill be going to the track this weekend if weather permits for the first time off the line in ol' girl to see what see puts down. Im hoping 13's. Well see tho.

Any generic aftermarket piggy back chip isn't worth a penny. Don't get it. Save the $230 for a more permanent part like heads or intake. It won't be any good with more modifications down the road. You are better off with a Tweecer or PMS if you want to play with the tune.

As far as you running 13's, I don't think you will get there. My best run was 14.675 @95mph on street tires with the following mods: FRPP 1 5/8" unequal length headers, Bassani cat-x pipe, Flowmaster American Thunder cat back, pulleys, MAC cold air, 70mm TB, and 3.55s. Admittedly, this was on the original dry rotted Gatorbacks so there was probably another tenth or so I could have gotten. So, don't expect stellar results with stock gears, CAI, and exhaust. I would say, high 14's at best but that depends on your tires and driving abilities. Good luck.
