What brand are the gears, get the part number so you can check.

Is that number off the box or the gears ?? Check the back of the ring gear for the part number and post that here so we can check it for you.

My friend got a set of 3.73's for an 8.8 but the gears inside the box were for a 7.5

well the gears are at the shop and i cant check them, but the ring gear should be the same size as the stock ring gear just a little bit thicker doesn't it and the pinion's head is a little bit smaller than the stock. i guess if they sended me a 7.5" for a v6 the ring gear needs to be much smaller than a v8 ring gear i think... and i really dont know what the problem is, the guy at the shop said that he was going to check it again on monday because he ran out of time on friday i'm hoping that its not a major problem.

I am going to guess you had a 3.27 ratio stock, just check the axle code on the drivers side door jamb sticker and we can tell you what your car came with.
