Default Heater Issues, Where to start?

OK I have a 95GT, I had posted an issue with the AC awhile back. But since it is getting cold, I need to focus on getting the heater working. When I move the temp selector switch, I can hear a door moving, I am assuming it is the door near the heater core. So I guess I am asking where to start as far as troubole shooting having no heat at all... In sringtime when I got the car there was a little heat, enought to keep the windows from fogging. Now there is nothing as far as heat! Just cold air blowing out of all vents. The fluid levels are correct. Thanks for any help or advice!

The "door" actuators use Vacumm, so it is probably a broken hose.
Or...have you checked the heater hoses are connected? maybe someone else plugged one of them, check where they enter the firewall.

I would go along with the heater core not being hooked up or one of the hoses has been plugged. If it leaked, a previous owner could have bypassed it to avoid the expense and aggravation of repairing it properly. Good luck! Desert Dale.

He can hear the flap opening and closing when he turns the switch....I would agree that the core is more than likely the culprit.

Oh god please do not let it be the core. LOL Looks like one hell of a task especially for someone with out a garage. Let's just hope it is a vacuum hose or something I will check it out and report back ASAP!!!

I,ve done a non-ac car(My '7920 min. tops), my old '86, and my wife's '88, both with air. Haven't done an SN yet, so I can't help ya with that.

Make sure that the door in the case is not broken at the place where the motor driven actuator goes into. I am afraid as well that it is your heater core which may be plugged. Try flushing it first.

OK I am flushing the heater core... getting more flow when I connect the water to the smaller side closest to the motor is this normal? Thanks for any input!

Another up date... connected back the to big side, closest to the firewall and got the same amount of flow as with the other side prior... whoooo hooo.... going to let the water run awhile and then replace the thermostat.

OK done with everything.. the friggin heat blows hot!!! THANK to everyone for their input... saved me about 500 in labor and parts. Flushed the heater core, flushed of the rest of the system while I was at it. refilled with new fluid repaired one leak at the thermostat housing and everything seems great. Will have to keep an eye open for leaks. Dang that was about 5 hour of flushing etc.

It would have been nice to see what the hell was clogging the heater core though!!! Ohhh well.

Thanks again everyone...

Just a little reminder if ever changing a heater core in a stang. I can't express how important it is to clean and wipe down the heater box where the core sits cause if you don't you usually get that nasty stinkin' film on the windsheild and the lovely smell of anti-freeze when you turn the heat on. (yes, I did learn from my own mistake the hard way)
