Default Running out of ideas. Please Help.

Hi, I am new to this so i hope i do this right. I have seen people post my problem before but every thing that is said i have done. So im hoping someone can shed some light on the next place to go or maybe i need to take something off. So this is it.....

I have a 1995 gt/gts (that what it says on my title) and it will not stop pinging. If my timing is any where near 10 degrees or near 1/2 throttle it goes off. I know its not the gas, i have cleaned my mass, changed my iat , new tps, new oil, plugs, wires, cap, all is good. I have changed my coil to a msd, and added a adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I have one chamber flows, and a fram air hog. Other than that it is stock. I have the timing down to 7 and then it will not ping ever. I know the motor is sound. Its running lean is what the mechanic said. It also has little surges of power when im driving. I have replaced all the hoses i think i have found.

... if any one has any ideas please let me know i really dont want to get rid of her. Thanks alot.

i have time before work to help you. i had same type of problem.
OK first off your timing should not be at 7 degree! this will cause the motor to run way to hot and ping. start here take the spout connector off and time the motor to 10 to 13 degree. then adjust your fuel pressure up a few pounds. what are you running it at? mine is at 43 lb with 89 octain in a 10.4 compression motor, no ping. but wait that's not it is it? a new coil from pep boys may fix the problem it did mine u got a msd blaster coil. but wait that may not be it either. do you know that msd distibutor may be your problem? yep it could be the module on the distributor, you may want to put the stock module back on to test it. but wait again it may be your fuel pump!!! does the car really hesitate and then ping bad? no fuel volume bad pump! yup and if that does not fix it set the timing with the spout connector off to 28 degrees and leave the spout connector off! this will give you 28 degree timeing at all speeds. its a quick fix but should give you an idea were to go from there. i think i covered all the bases except wires and spark plugs good luck, let me know what happened. PS. you may have a coolant problem antifreeze or water pump.

Ok so i will change my timing to 13, and up fuel press. It is at 40 right now. The msd coil is new, should i put the stock one back on? Same with distibutor, it is the stock one just with a msd cap rotor. The ping is all the time i step on it, the hesitation is mostly when cruzing. The car does not kinda hot, around the R and A in Normal. What should it run at? Maybe thats it? But it will ping even when i turn on the fan and cool it down below the N. What about that raido interferince on the coil. Somone had told me that that can put out likr a rf interference and cause pinging, is that true? Thanks for the help, ill let you know.

So i checked and changed every thing and it still pinged. So then i advanced it do 26* and it stoped pinging. What does that mean? Or anyhing? The car will fall on its face above 4000rpm. Kinda like a back fire, or a missfire. Thanks for the help.

Try and clean your maf sensor. Be very gentle. Compressed air would work,
a very gentle tooth brush. Clean it and see if that helps. Is your car an aode?
Engine light come on for a brief moment during acceleration?
My sons sn-95 did all that and more it was a ping pong machine.
We fixed it though. Timing to 14 run only premium. The real kicker was new headers ,
Gt-40 intake and BBK MAF and the pinging is gone. If it is an AODE car it needs gears ,
like 3.73 but 4.10 will work better. The sn-95 cars need a few modifications and they will run allot better.
5 speed car less worries when it comes to tuning. The computer pulls timing out of the AODE under acceleration.
It is a combination of poor choice of gears and poor programing from Ford!

its still pinging???? did you test the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge yet? did you try to change the msd module yet?
