I was wondering if a double roller timing chain can be installed in my 95 HO without having to modify anything? Or is that something that is already there? Since I bought this engine new from Ford I've never been in it so I'm not sure exactly what came on them from the factory. Are their any aftermarket brands that anyone can recommend? Not going for any adjustability just need to replace it since I'll be in there anyways.
Thanks

Hey I just chained mine out about 2 months ago. no modifications needed. and the stock one was worn out, i had 127000 miles on it. I just bought the summitt double roller timing chain. And it works fine. You can go with other brands but I went summitt, b/c its cheaper and I am going to get a create 331stroker when I get back from the desert. But the summitt brand timing chain works fine. $40. It is a good up grade!

hate to bust your bubble lol but $40 for a timing chain will be crap in about 1,000 to 1200 miles thats why im doin away with chains and getting a Pete Jackson gear drive quiet one $255. only timing chains that last i was told are the pricey ones $130 and up i believe the real true double roller designs. HP books i have confirms it. If i ever get ink for the scanner ill post it. or just read em at barnes & noble or the ford dealer I bought from both. kinda like they say get what ya pay for.
Well as far as summit is concerned there are no $130 ones, aside from the big adjustable ones, which the cost is because of the adjustablility. The only exception is the Ford Racing HY-VO®, which is almost $300, so way out of my range. I'm not one to go cheap on my car, so I'll probably pony up for one of the 60-70 ones, but I'd almost lay money that they all are using pretty much the same chains, except the HY-VO®. i'm kinda looking at the Cloyes Billet Steel Timing Set as my most likely purchase. Unlike a race car I need this thing to last through the punishment of a foot with a teenager's weight, and every day of the week. With my job and college I drive a good 100 miles a day.

yeah ink for the scanner to post the pages from the HP books i have mustang performance ones, that states 1000-1200 miles with a cheap chain is considered junk, just relating there paragraph if i had the scanner ink could copy and post it... maybe summit quality is better...

summits not a bad brand, next your gana tell me that you payed $170 for a bbk cold ait intake, when you can get the same damn thing for $70 at mustangtunning.com Your just buying a name. and my chain was worn out so I replaced it with a decent (not the best but a good one) B/C Im getting a creat engine in about 5 months when I get back from the desert. My girl is driving my mustang I am sure shes not going to break the timing chain!!!

yes my scanner uses ink it scans, its a inkjet printer, and copier, the 3 in 1 for $100 from best buy i was just talking about the scanner feature of it lol
actually blaze when i said $40 where did i get that from? was actually posting to lugthug on his 40 dollar timing chain never even was posting about your car.
Well I ordered the Trick Flow Billet steel bouble roller. It was the cheapes one that was double roller and had billet steel cam AND crank sprocket. $63.39 is not too bad IMHO, not only a good price but with a name brand.
I orded the Ford Racing water pump, figure it's probably the OEM waterpump on the engine anyways, and at $48.95 why the hell not?
Fel-pro timing cover gasket kit completed the purchase. I'm going to a do a full tech write-up on the procedure and work involved (with lots of pics, that's my style) for the other forum I admin on, but since this is a SN95 engine and all, it'll probably be even more relevant for you all. So i'll be sure to post it over here as well.
Oh, and the reason I'm doing it ASAP, is the timing cover gasket let go and the car is spraying coolant so I don't really have a choice. But I love my car and it loves me because it didn't bust untill I was in the driveway at home
