anyone would know what a ticking noise on the passenger side of the motor could be? it seems that is where the valve cover sits more than where the header is ...car seems that it lost power and slower i just had edelbrok heads intalled 2 weeks ago along with all the gaskets ,timing chain, water pump, could it be something wrong with the valves, lifters, etc anyone got any ideas? maybe a bad plug or wire? or header gasket leak?
thats weird cause its only do it sometimes a friend of mine that works on mustangs says it could be that some of the header bolts got loose and theres a leak he installed my edelbrok heads 2 weeks ago
Fix 'em!..Fix 'em! Replace a lifter b4 it chews up the cam.Then"since I gotta anyway"--bigger cam Hmmm...since I'm there,why not better heads...Hmmm,for insurance a new oil pump.water pump,timing set.Why not a new set of lifters too?.. well,go ahead ,since your here,replace ALL the gaskets..well now that I've done that,I need a better intake,bigger T/B,MAF and injectors.....
But I had a 120K mile original motor--see what I mean---Fix it quick

uhm today i inspected the headers for any visible leaks nope and also the bolts are pretty tight i removed 2 of the plugs the ones towards the back passenger side of the car the last one seemed ok but the second plug it was cracked right under the tip where the plug wire hooks up half way down i replaced the plug with a new one i also replace the plug wire and performance its the same lacking power and tick noise nothing changed, ANYONE please help. I was told it shouldnt be the lifters but then what it is? the ticking noise its not constant n sometimes you can hear it sometimes its really hard to notice but i know its there its more like tick ......tick......tick its hard to explain in words, sounds like a leak sometimes coming from intake mani but sometimes from headers its hard to pinpoint .. this whole thing happened next day after low oil light came on, then i stopped at gas station (autoparts was closed ) picked up cheap oil just to get me going, after 20 min drive when hom3 parked car, next morning all this happened its all weird because before i put the heads and cam i was having no oil consumption now i have to put a quart of motor oil every 2 days ....sorry for the long post guys any experienced stang member that can help i would appreciate it
Wires not new?let it idle,in the dark, watch for a flash where a plug wire is grounding through cracked insulation.found that on one of mine, but power wasn't down so bad as you describe-but it was the slow "tick"I was hearing.without hearing yours,it's hard to guess what it might be,that's why we all throw out all kinds of ideas.

So your oil got low and you bought some "cheap" oil? Im assuming that you mixed a different type of oil with your existing type. I dont know that thats a good idea.

i bought new taylor wires car runs good but theres that noise still, i think its a small exhaust leak, also idle when cold sucks a lot it turns off couple of times unless i keep it floored just enough then after a while when it warms up runs good, any ideas??
When I did a H/C/I on an LS1 not to long ago and after we took it our for a spin it did the same thing. We popped the valve covers off and one of the rocker studs had loosened/risen up. As the rod came up it hit the rocker but did not push the valve down. No real damage but then again we caught it after about a mile. It was causing a continous clicking. Might be your problem, I recommend taking off the valve covers and checking your rockers. Either way you need to stop driving it until you find out what it is. Just my .2
