Help, (1995 GT)

When I accelerate, I hear the tapping noise. When the T-5 is in neutral, I don't hear the tapping noise. Any ideas?

Exhaust Leak?
It doesn't seem like an exhaust leak problem because in my mind the noise should be present tranny engaged or not. The header bolts are tight and I still hear the noise.

Vacuum Leak?
Someone said it might be a vacuum problem which sounds more like the problem but I don't know where to check that. He said if the tapping noise you hear is only when the engine is under load (i.e. accelerating) then that most likely is a vacuum issue. Does "under load" mean when the trans is engaged and you're accelerating?

Worse?
Is it a lifter tap? I don't know, I don't hear the sound with the tranny in neutral so would this be a lifter tap?

Could also be a ping. What kind of fuel are you running. I know on my 88 GT If it was real hot outside. My car would ping under hard acceleration.

I have the same problem. I put headers and an xpipe on my 03 gt and have the taping sound when im driving but not on neutral. What can it be??????
