i have a 94 gt (manual trans.) and ive never been able to figure out why i cannot get my reverse lights to work! I've checked fuses, replaced bulbs, even exchanged all the good fuses with new fuses and still nothing. is there a wire on the transmission that makes the light turn on when in reverse or am i missing something here?
there is probably a switch on the gear box that activates when you go towards reverse.
someone who is more familiar with the year mustang you have can chime in and verify that. but, i would thin that is your problem.

You need to check to see if you have power to the bulb. From the sounds of it there is no power there. There is a switch on the trans like Brent said. It is possibly bad.

can i get to this switch from underneath the car or do i have to go into the transmission? Do you know of any websites that might have a diagram for this?

Look underneath at the trans and if you see a switch actuated when it is in reverse, then thats it. It might be by the shifter i can't remember. Let me get my chiltons.

Just lookin in my chiltons book here. The book says that the incoming side of the switch wire is Purple and orange. The wire on the load side of the switch is Black and pink. Jumper these wires. If the reverse lights come on then the switch is either bad, or is out of adjustment if there is any.

the reverse switch just went bad on my truck. just like suggested before, have the car in reverse with the engine off and key on. then i think the switch is on the driver side by the shifter. take off the connector, and jump the pins. then check to see if you have lights. if you dont then try the other switch.

so then there are 2 switches? can i access one from the inside of the car under the shifter boot or something?
