Default 95 GT Amps jumping after it warms up

I have a 95 GT, all stocked with about 120k on it. The problem started one night after I got home from work( about a 30 minute drive) and had to go back out. About a mile from my house the radio turn off and the dash gauges light dimmed and the amp guage was on the n of the noraml. Which its mainly stays on the m, then I notice the guages stop working, all of them. From there the car died. I let the car set for about 30 mins and jumped the battery, hoping that the battery would run the car long enough to get it home. To my surprise it started the first try and the amp guage read fine. But now after the car warms up about 20 to 30 mins running, the amps drops then will run in the low amps for about 10 mins then jumps back to normal. I had the battery and alternater tested, the battery was on a low charge so I replaced it hoping that it was the problem. The alternater tested fine 14. amp. The car still does it, after about 20-30 mins. Any advise?

Hey man you could try the Voltage regulator. its about $20 autozone. And its on the alternator. You might have to take the alternator off and its the little sensor where the wiring harnes clips in to it. Hope this helps.

Also it could be the sensor in the distributor. called the Pick up modgule. I had the similar problem I changed the voltage regulator and theat other sensor and it is all good now.

Let me know more about the way its acting. B/c mine would run like 10-15 min then die out and you might not get it to start as long as a day. And it ended up being that pick up modgule.

let me know

Hi guys, sorry it took solang getting back here. I had the alternater retested, it passed again, then one night the guage dropped to about 12.5 volts and stayed there. I had the alternater retest for a third time and it failed. A friend of mine said mostly it was the alternater all along, told me the bushing in it was going bad and that why it was given fasle signal or the test equipment/tester at the auto part store didn't know what they where doing.
So I replaced it with a Ford direct alternator and changed the voltage regulater while I had it out. Everything works great now. Thanks for the help.
