Default New MAF now AODE slips? BAD

I just installed a new larger MAF and my AODE is slipping real bad in downshifts. Is this from trans crapping out (high mileage) or does the MAF affect the trans. This is a 95 GT. I have another trans and will be replacing next week I just dont want to fry my new one with some crappy MAF. I have always been under the impression that it is impossible to ruin this trans with a MAF but need expert advice. Thanks

it is a granatelli MAF for a 95 mustang stock injector size. It also feels like there is a loss in power. Could this just be a loss in low end torque? I think this MAF was the biggest waste of money in the world, everyone talks about seat of the pants feel after a MAF install. I would think if the car was dynoed it lossed power.

you have to have more than just bolt ons to feel the difference in mafs. put the stock one back on and see what it does.
