Using an F303 cam w/.512 lift, the 1.7 rockers take it to .544 lift(I don't remember the formula, but did the research for my own-I stayed w/ the 1.6 ratio)
And to answer your question about valve cover clearance,NO-they(Summit-Proform,Ebay-Procomp-look identical) will not fit under the stock 94-95 covers..I had an old set of covers on another engine that was a little taller, but still had to cut the baffles out,grind/trim the EGR mounting tab on the intake to make it all fit w/o using a spacer so I could clear the stock hood

'94 is a good old fashioned single cam right through the middle of the block, you're only gonna need to buy 1

Total lift is the cam lobe lift times the rocker arm ratio. The stock cam lift is .444 (.279 cam x 1.59 rocker ratio) and with 1.7 ratio rockers a stock now has .474 lift. It won't change your duration but it still helps the engine breathe better. The Cobra motors had .479 lift using the Crane 1.7 rocker arms. The Crane Cobra rockers aren't the strongest rocker arms on the market but if you're not using monster valve springs they are fine and fit under the factory valve covers.
and what would be a good Cam and lift ??? the most higher that i've seen is .542/563. on summit ive seen kits with hydraulic roller lifters is that neccesary ?
Caarreful....the bigger you go,the more you have to pay attention to EVERYTHING else!

To much lift, and your valves will be in danger of hitting the top of your pistons. You'll eventually (probably ) want better heads to get the most benefit from your new cam, then you'll have to be careful of valve size for the same reason. To much lift with an otherwise stock valve train can bind up the valvesprings,or cause valve "float" at higher RPMs because the stock spring aren't strong enough to push the valves closed from that height before it's time for them to open again.
YEARS ago,I put a mild cam in a 302 in an F150,otherwise all stock.1st breakdown-valve broke and fell into the cylinder--wasn't pretty..2nd breakdown,a pushrod came out looking like an "S"--Granted,I "played" with it a lot,but went back to stock cam and no more problems

Without bigger heads and intake/exhaust, bigger isn't better. If you have the stock long block, your best combo usually is the E-303 cam with 1.6 rockers. The F303 is a little more lift (check out Ford Racing for specs) and delivers a little more on the top end, but with the weight of the 94 the E cam provides great torque gains over stock and has a realative flat hp curve that works well with your stock to mild street combo.
I have run that combo and got 265rwhp using 24# injectors and cobra intake with my old fox body. It ran a best 13.08 at sea level.
Without checking valve clearance, my brother is tech and said stock 5.0's are good to about .540 lift and 226 duration at .050. He is using the Ecam with 1.7 rockers. I know some have used the X cam and been ok and others haven't. He said always check clearance about .530 lift anyway. Hope that helps, just my $.02
well thank u so much for the help it has really helped a lot, i will try that E-303 cam with stock rockers and i will be buying the trickflow street very soon...
I agree the E-303 cam from fordmotorsports will get you up and running with more HP and a better sound. Don't go bigger than that unless you plan on fly cutting the pistons for clearance......................................... .........................
