Default 95 GT - caster/camber plate problem!!!

Just installed Steeda's caster camber plates thinking I was going to finally get my settings dialed in.

To my dismay, the plates prevent the car from being properly aligned because they run out of space moving the camber back to a less negative value. The result is that on one side I can muster out -1.1 degrees of camber and on the other side I can only get it to -1.5.

I would prefer a maximum of -1.0 degrees, but would prefer something more like -.75. The caster is also totally mismatched and the plates don't really allow for a caster adjustment.

I'm thinking of dropping $200 for MM's plates which look like they are more adjustable (in both directions) and smaller for that matter, thus allowing for better camber values.

Has anyone had this problem? Will the MM plates solve my problem? Is there another fix that I'm not seeing?

I don't want to go for long with the issue as my car now pulls pretty good to the right, thus probably killing my tires.

Not so happy with these Steeda plates right now...

Make sure u did not put them on the wrong sides. That is the major cause for this problem because they look so similar.

Or the car has had previous major front end damage that is causing the problem with the front end not being fixed properly. Or the car is too low, exc.

OK, just from memory, but I think this is right...

First you want the maximum amount of Caster you can get. Push the tops of the struts all the way to the back of the plates, toward the firewall. This will give you about 5" of Caster (maybe more - I think the 99-04's will go to 6"). About 3 1/2" is stock. If you're not getting any, you're doing something really wrong (maybe cool is right and you have them on backwards).

As for Camber, I have Steeda plates, and they recommend .7" to -1.1" (more for pure track use, of course). The more Caster you got, the more negative Camber you will get as the wheels turn... Either way, your plates should give you this much change.

If you're trying to correct for a bent frame or something, its the wrong way to go about it. A body shop is the only fix for that.

But yeah, those plates should give you plenty of Camber adjustment if they are installed right.

As for toe in, the Ford spec is 3/32" total (and I'd keep it at that).

How are you measuring Camber?

As it turns out, the shop did install them wrong. Unreal, since they came recommended to me by my engine guy. I should have known better when I gave them the parts and they looked at them like they were from outer space.

Anyways, simple enough fix. Can't wait to see what the car is like when the suspension is actually set up properly!

I just hope the body is straight enough to support the proper settings.
