Default 3/8 intake spacers with stcok hood?

I am thinking about installing a 3/8 intake manifold spacer in my '95GT with the stock hood to allow me to install aftermarket valve covers. Will i still be able to close the hood or it is going to interfer? Is the EGR tube going to the R/H headers will be to short? (i have crane 1.7 roller-rockers installed). So if anyone tried already this mod. please share with me your experience and result! Thanks!

I would think the 3/8 spacer wouldn't give any clearance problems. But you might need more than a 3/8 for aftermarket valve covers and I'm guessing you want the tall ones. You might need to go up to a 1 inch for them to fit and even then, you should have enough room under the hood. That was my experience.

you can measure the hood clearance with a I inch spacer of foam or something that will leave a mark. put something 1 inch wide on top of the intake then close the hood.

Play dough works great just make a ball stick it on the intake while it is cold and slowly close the hood until it pops closed; you will see how much space u have to use.

I have the 1/2" spacer installed on mine with a stock hood. The front bolt of upper intake rubs on the hood pad. Not enough to wear through, just enough to leave a witness mark. I'm als running the Cobra (Crane) 1.7 rockers with the stock valve covers. The EGR tube is going to be too short and will require some fabrication. Follow the address in my sig. to see the photos of my installation.
