I see or here of people sayin they have an EGR delete on there 5.0. how exactly do you do that? im wanting to delete the egr on my 94 cobra.do they make a plate to cover up the egr hole on the intake? theres something wrong were it is opening to much during driving casing very week throttle resonse and studdering.
I know Accufab makes an EGR plate to cover the hole left when you take the valve off. You could get it anywhere that carries Accufab and costs around $30, give or take a few either way.

Don't know if I did it "proper",but look on Ebay.Delete plate($10 +/- shipped),header bung cap(about the same as the plate-I replaced mine w/pre '93 headers),smog pump delete pulley(45-50 shipped),and there's a plug in thing-a-majig thet keeps your CEL from coming on($25-30 shipped.Although the codes will still show up on the KOER test),on the H-pipe,put a hi temp silicone coated bolt in the place where the tube comes up to the EGR,then clamp it .
I don't know if there is any performance gain from all this, but it sure cleans things up under the hood-you can actually change your spark plugs

I took my EGR off. I used a 1/4 inch piece of metal and shaped it with a grinder. Then drilled two holes in it and it covered the EGR flange space. I bought a chip off ebay and it turned the EGR function off in the computer. I plugged the vacuum tubing also. I have had no problems with the way it runs. I agree with 5.7 it sure makes the underhood look better.

Could you sure some info on this chip you bought? I bought a little gadget that plugged into the pigtail from the EGR valve and it made no difference- didnt even make the light go out! Thanks

I have posted two pictures here which brings up my question.....if I understand it correctly there are "TWO" different, either or, EGR attachments to Ford intakes, one that goes between the throttle body and the intake and the other that attachs to the back side of the intake a little behind the throttle body???
The first picture deletes the first type. The second type/picture would be covered with a plate.
All you need to do is pull the smog pump off get a delete kit (70$) on Ebay to replace the pully, plug all the holes and go. If you have an EGR tube runnig from you headers you will need to plug that aswell (but you should just install new headers if you are going to do that). Removing the smog pump will not effect the way the car runs at all as long as all vacume leaks are pluged. I just did it.
Earlsflyincobra: The second picture you posted is the back side of a pre-94-95 cobra intake. Generally this look the same up to 93 then when you put this manifold on a 94-95 Mustang you will need an elbow. Then in the elbow there is an EGR located here for the 94's and 95's. I built a plate to cover the 93 egr and then found that the egr hole in the elbow for the 94-95 has a hole just the right size to tap it out with threads and install a nice allen head plug. Then, I had a custom performance chip made for me and they turn of the egr so no check engine light.

Reason: add-on
some of you guys need to just do research on what an EGR is and what it does. it's just an emissions device that is supposed to operate only in cruising conditions. it allows exhaust gases into the intake to 1. be reburned and 2. to provide an inert gas in the cylinders for filling.
the side effects are dirty intake manifolds and intake chare air. blocking it off won't hurt your car at all, maybe your fuel mileage a little bit, but i doubt if you even notice. i would just block it off, plug all VAC lines and exhauts ports going to it and properly disable the EGR reporting section in the computer with a tuner or something

my Drill instructor always told me....your either gonna be smart or your gonna be strong....which is it gonna be???
i agree! the EGR is kinda like making your car eat its own ****! no fun!!! and once its gone correctly, one less thing down the road to cause you problems! just get rid of it and save ur engine from eating ****! :P hehe
whats the part called that u plug into the censior to turn it off ??
Stupid crappy junk.
Seriously - if you are set on removing it, don't plug something into your car to trick the car into thinking it is still there. The computer will do things expecting certain conditions at certain speeds, which has the potential to mess stuff up. Not saying it will mess stuff up, but the potential is there whenever the computer is being deceived.
Either deal with the CEL or get a tune to remove the function. I would note that when the CEL is illuminated, the function is disabled.
