Default Problems with 1994 Mach Audio Deck Swap in a GT

My cd player stopped working, it wouldn't pull in the disks. So I thought I could just swap out the deck. No where seems to know how to do this. I have heard that i would have to re wire the entire system, but it seems like there has to be a way to change the deck without that. Does anyone know anything? Its a 94 GT with the mach audio. Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

Ford used unique audio systems back then. You had to have a special radio for use with the CD player. That's probably why the previous owner of my GT put in an Alpine system. Check with you local dealers and find out who the authorized radio repair center is. You may have better luck getting it fixed. You could also go to a generic CD radio and put the storage bin back under the radio like I did.

Default stereo install

The mustang uses a jbl amp under the rear deck in the 94 model. If you buy an aftermarket head with changer controls, mske sure it has a high voltage pre out, and get a kit that will convert the small black square plug to rca connectors. If your deck has front and rear pre outs, it will plug in and work just like factory. 4v or better will give you the best interface. (dont know exactly what the factory jbl head pumps out, Haven't worked on one in about three, four years) Hope that will help you out.

if its a convertible the amps under the top but the guy on the last post is right you need a ford premium vehicle adapter with rca's or what they call low level inputs i have one here at my stereo shop they are not hard to find ask any audio shop! But you also have to hook the amp turn on wire on your radio to the amp/power antenna wire on the aftermarket harness!
