Default 1994 Mustang GT Heater Core/AC?

I have a 94 Gt Convertible. Unfortunately I began the long process of replacing the heater core. The center console is removed. The dash is removed. The wiring is unplugged. The "in and out" hoses from the heater core at the firewall are removed. AND NOWHERE in any books or online does it mention removing the AC lines! Plain and simple, the heater core housing will not come out until I remove these lines! I called a Ford mechanic, he said if I were to remove these lines "freon?" would come out but there is no way of getting the heater core out unless I remove them. Someone who has made the same wonderful choice of replacing the heater core PLEASE HELP! I'm staring at the heater core assembly, I'm so close I can lick it! And yet I cannot get to it!! Any help is much appreciated. Thank You!

Default re a/c

FIRST YOU NEED TO DISCHARGE A/C ,your car im shure is disabled now, you can go to auto zone or buy a a/c rechage kit , connect it without the freon can attached let the freon out ,then you need to buy the tools to disconnect the quick disconnect lines, please at least wear safty glasses so it dosent spray you in the eyes if there is some pressure left in it, you can get a cheap set of plastic disconnect tool that will work, the correct way would have been to take it to a shop and have the a/c discharged, hope this helps, larry g

I am a commercial and industrial refrigeration service technician. By law you are required to recover the R-134a refrigerant. Most people don't have this kind of equipment, so I recommend a professional do the refrigerant removal and recharge. Remember that the life of your A/C depends on service techniques.

The following URL explain how to remove the heater core without discharging the AC freon. It sounds like a pain in the @$$.
