Default does wheel size effect the gears i choose

i just bought a 1995 mustang gt.i put twenty inch rims on it.i have allready put flowmasters,o/r h pipe ,headers, msd blaster coil.its really slow out the hole.would 373 gears be good with twenties,or does the wheel size matter with gears.i want to be fast at take off.

It'll always be a little slower out of the hole. Prolly don't have much sidewall on the tires, not enough grip... but anyways. 4.10s would be fine. Larger wheels/tires = higher top speed slower acceleration, smaller ones are the opposite.

If you really want to be quick get a set of Pro-Stars 15x10 and toss 315/60R15 MT ET Street Slicks on it.

Default rims and speed

If you want to take off faster, 20 inchers are the last set of rims you want on your car. The biggest you want to run are like 18s bro. Especially 20 inch chrome, those are some heavy mo fo's. Yeah gear size isn't effected by which size rim you got. With that said no matter what rim you have, the lower the gear the more torque so I would go with either the 373's or the 410's. But keep in mind if you do a lot of freeway driving stick with 355 or 373. 410's are for like quarter miles. But to each their own. I have 373's. Good Luck.

overall tire dimeter is what will make the difference no matter what size the wheel is

That is what the truth is. It's the overall tire height, not the wheels that determines the effective gear ratio. 15's with a 28 inch tall tire will act the exact same compared to a set of 20's with 40 series tires. The 20's will be some heavy mammas, that'd be about the only real change.
