Exclamation HELP - 302 random stalls?

I'll get to the point, while driving my 94 5L randomly stalls, the engine completly dies on me i have to coast to saftey before i can start it again after letting it breath for a bit? Its not overheating, it drives fine, i just put in a new fuel pump, new egr, new ccr module because of this problem. This problem started right after i had an alarm/starter combo put in however i have been told that it has nothing to do with the problem? I would like to disagree, but cant think of any reasons why it would shut off the engine...Battery levels are fine? If its a bad ground...any ideas where it could be located? Any ideas/thoughts?

I used to have a cougar with a 5.0 before I got my 94 GT. It used to stall out on me, and it turned out to be an EGR solenoid that would stick open. It would stall at idle, like if I came to a traffic light. It would always restart, but it was very annoying. The cougar had a bank of solenoids...not sure how EGR is controlled on the 94 but it might be something to look at if that matches your symptom. I looked at alldata and there is a solenoid used to control the EGR. You said you replaced the valve, but I'm talking about the control portion of the system. As far as the alarm, I wouldn't suspect it to be a problem. Usually an alarm system has a relay to prevent the starter circuit from energizing when armed, but that shouldn't be a factor when the engine is running.

It stalls when driving?? Its such a random power cut, happens at low RPMs and High? Theres no way of concluding based on when it happens because it is so random?! Any other suggestions????

there is also a little sensor in side the distributor. Mine went bad, and thats what the problem was. Pain in the ass to change so I got a whole new distibutor.

I had the same problem out of my 95. I spent about 900 before I let the car set at a local ford dealer for almost a month before they found the problem I promise if you change the pick up in distubrator it will fix the problem.

I have a 95 5.0L and had the exact same problem. Random stalls. Not starting unless it cooled off.
Replaced the distributor (and the pickup inside of it) and the problem is gone.

Well worth the $95.
It seems that over time, the gear in the distributor gets worn. This allows the rotor to move side to side. When it moves it hits the sensor. The sensor tells the computer that the car is getting spark.

If the sensor doesn't work, the car thinks there is no spark, so it shuts off the fuel pump, fuel injectors, etc. Car dies.

Replace the whole distributor. Putting a new sensor in a worn distributor will only result in another broken sensor.

Good Luck

little random here, but my '95 V6 does exactly the same, stalls at high or low speeds sometimes (rarely but it still does). i simply have to restart after stopping, but its very annoying.

Do u reckon its the same problem with the distributor?

I agree with the Distributor. I had the same issue with mine. The part is called the 'Stator'. Its not hard to replace.

Default Same problem with my 95 GT

I actually just started a new thread about this problem. I thought for sure it was either ignition control module, or stator, but that wasnt it. have you managed to fix your problem yet?
