as foxchassis says - no power gain

only 3 reasons to remove EGR system

1 - you think it's ugly and you live in an area that doesn't have smog checks

2 - the current EGR system is bad and you don't have the money to repair it and you live in an area that doesn't have smog checks

3 - you want a bigger T/B and don't want to spend the money on a larger EGR spacer and you live in an area that doesn't have smog checks

the EGR system helps reduce NOx by trying to keep the combustion chambers under 2500* F.

There's a 4th reason. Removing the EGR system greatly improves your ability to change the no.4 spark plug and plug wire. To me it's just a PITA to have in the engine bay (ditto the smog pump assembly).
Modern, more efficient engines don't need all this crap to dilute the emissions and if we make our 5.0 engines more efficient, they won't need it either.

Definatley cleans up the engine bay and that back plug is a breeze to change. No power gain as stated above.

I have noticed that my 94 does not have the metal tube running on the right header. Then when I looked at the intaketube behind the TB there was a block off plate where the EGR went. My car is throwing a code and seems to run a little rough.
How do I get past that?

EGR simulator. It plugs into the harness that use to plug into the EGR. You can get them off of ebay pretty cheap.

One thing I would like to point out though CJ hit on a good point. EGRs help keep the temp of your cumbustion chamber down. Now this is important for good reason, detonation. By removing the EGR your cylinder temp could go up. Depending on how radical your combo is you could start having detonation problems. I would suggest running 91 octane or better and in some cases 1 step colder plugs.

Just a little FYI.

wow, seems like the cons outweigh the pros. No power gain, possible computer problems, using higher (more expensive) octane gas. But easy to change the spark plug. LoL. I'll just leave mine on.

I did it because it is cheaper than buying a new EGR valve.... (I'm in med school and have no money)

Explain to me how recirculating exhaust gasses though your engine keeps temps down?

When your engine is running rich, this valve opens and recirculates the 'rich' exhaust to be burnt again.

when this happens, some of your clean intake air is being replaced with sooty and hot exhaust.

That Ford tech is an idiot. EGR reduces NOx.
