Default Top priorites for a 5.0 engine rebuild

Im looking to rebuild a 5.0 and put it in my mustang, does anyone know the top priorities for the block, i dont want to spend a lot of money so im just going to buy a rebuild kit, but do i absoluteley have to send it to the machine shop, im thinking that all this depends on the out-of-round on the cylinders, does anyone have the specs for a stock 5.0 and torque specs would be good to.
thanks

You need to get it hot tanked and have the cylinders honed at least.
I'd also have them install new cam bearings and freeze plugs for you.
I hope you have various calipers to measure clearances, pistons ring grinder & compressor, torque wrench, etc..etc...

Building an engine is not just bolting the parts together and throwing them in the block.
