I have a 95 gt, auto. Somebody posted that they should have 2.73 gears, but the tag on my dif says 3.54. Am gathering parts to do 5 speed swap and get rid of junk auto. Would I be better off with these gears or 3.73 as I have a set of those in the garage?
if u have a set of 3.73s just sittin around lol they are highly reccomended by multiple mustang guys u put them in to match the 5 speed

Smartz, personally i think the best upgrade next right now for a good price is the Steeda Tri Ax short throw shifter its only like 160 bucks and worth EVERY penny *the reason its pretty famous lol* but if u got more money to spend gt 40 heads and intake setup are usually the best but this upgrade can cost anywhere from 100-2000 bucks depending on where u find ur heads and if u add valve springs and rockers etc lol but this setup can be found in the pushrod ford explorer set up hope my post helps

shalisk, it is covered in here what gears but so u don need to look 3.73 for standard, 4.10s for auto, but if u want ur car to be a highway car u may wanna consider keeping ur gear ratio kinda high like a 3.55 for fuel economy... but its up to you, then cold air intake, and whatever u can afford from there on out... a shift kit and gt40heads/intake set up will really wake ur car up tho

I have a set of 4.10s in my 95 and wen i hit 95mph i get a pretty loud vibration from my shifter. is that the gears in the rear end (should i go with 3.73s) or is that more involved?
my T5 would make some pretty good noise at those speeds too and i had stock gears in mine.. i think it was the tranny tho...never had the chance to replace the tranny to find out... are u at or above 135,000miles?? cuz if so, these transmissions arent really known to be the best lol but, 2 questions, do u have a stock shifter or something else for a short throw??(i put a steeda tri ax in mine and got rid of a LOT of vibrations and sound) and if u have the 3.73s kickin around, and can put them in urself, i would reccommend doing it but if not the 4.10s are fine, u just burn more gas at highway speeds

I just rebuilt my tranny just got out of the 500 mile break in and it does have a short throw. The guy i bought the car from did some shotty work so I think he might have put the gears in and didnt use the right shims or something. I am thinking about buying a rebuild kit and put the 3.73 gears in i trust my work more than the guy I bought it from.
Hello. I normally post in the classic section as I have had my classic stang for 20 some years, however my dad recently retired and moved out here next to me. he has a 94 gt that has been dissassembled for about years and I am trying to help him get it back together.
the mods that he has done and are in progress are shorty headers, edelbrock rpm heads, 1.6 roller rockers and a powerdyne supercharger. (this is not necessarily the way I would have done it but it is the way he did it.) anyway. he thought that since he did not change the cam he will not need to mess with the computer
what are your thoughts. ( I know he should have done gears first)
a lunati voodoo, a ford racing 303, or a steeda 19 cam are all good options to wake it up a little bit, the voodoo being the meanest... the ford racing and steeda cam are about the same par as far as duration and such is concerned but all three are designed specifically to wake up a 302 with a computer

I want to change the gears in my 95 mustang gt. would the 3.73 be the best for an auto tranny? or should i go 4.10? how will this effect my highway driving and my fuel millage? how much lower would my top end speed be?
I picked up a set of 3.55 for my 95 GT 5 speed, I looked through the articles and did not a How-to on swapping gears. Does anyone know of one? I am not a newb when it comes to turning wrenches but it would be nice to read someone elses experience before diving in myself.
