The Molarmass has the answer!!! After all my mods and gaining HP in small increments here and there, the gears that were recently installed, exceeds all the bolt ons I did first! The stock 2:73's did the car and the mods such an injustice it wasn't funny! Do the gears then do the rest if you want the best bang for the buck upfront!

Yup, and to think I posted that advice back in October! Its been so long!
Back when I posted those, I had the car with 3.55's in the rear end with a T-5. About a month ago, I upgraded to the 4.10's. Now THAT was a seat of the pants feel! I'll never look back to the 3.55's. Consider, though, the Stang is no longer a daily driver. Does anyone want to buy some economy/performance 3.55's made by FMS?
Thedebate can go on forever on this one as everyone has their own opinion. on a budget go gears 3.73s, K&N or CAI, pullies(re-adjust the idle for your system or you will have charging probs at idle) as for cooling never had a prob but I did change to a 170 Mr. gasket thermostsat at the same time. And get an offroad H or X pipe(if meeting emissions is not a requirement) for the install on the gears try and find someone that can do them in your town. There's always someone that does cause there's usually some type of racxe track in or near your area
Some mods like The mass air or intake change do not always work out for everyone. The MAF worked for me but didn't for others. The intake is alot of money for 7hp or so, $$ for a new one. i do not have one and am doing fine w/o it.
Gears, Filter, offroad pipe and pullies are a real good start preferably all at the same time or if you're low on $$ take the pullies out and you're set or save a little mor then go for it.

Gears, Gears, Gears!!!!! Do this first! Next you should plan what direction you want the car to go in. Gears will give you enough blast until you outline your project and figure out how to finance your future upgrades. I have owned several mustangs over the last couple of years and gears really made a difference and kept me motivated in most projects. I just bought a stock 94GT off ebay for $4000.00. The car is nice and is a automatic. The price was right and I have a 94 Cobra tranny just waiting to go in. This is my wife's daily driver so it will get gears and full exhaust. I will also add a intake and cold air because I consider these as basic upgrades until I replace the engine with a 306. Good luck and remember to plan your project and set goals. Peace
Isaiah

Yeah, 4,10's SUCK with twin turbos (unless you're highway racing).
Plan ahead!!!
HOWEVER! 4.10's were the best thing my car ever got naturally aspirated. I was able to defeat LS1's with iron heads, gt40 intake, e303, and 4.10's in a 5 speed.
If you go with pullies, get all three. They are all designed to work together. If you get just a crank pulley you will definetly have cooling problems. As for the charging at idle problem, who like to idle in a mustang anyway?
