Default What kind of headers should I get? 1995 Mustang GT

The guy that I bought my car from did a less than stellar job installing the muffler system, I have an exhaust leak and I am going to go ahead and get 2 1/2 pipes all the way to the mufflers (2 chamber flows) and have it dumped in front of the back wheels. I was planning on getting some long tubes anyways so I might as well do it at the same time. Can anyone reccomend a good (cheap) pair of headers and where to get them. What should I expect in labor costa for all of this work as well? Thanks.

Remember when you buy cheap, you get cheap. Flowtech makes long tubes for around $140 but they'll burn out in about a year because they're made of 18 gauge mild steel. If you have a 5 speed, you have quite a few choices, if it's automatic then you only have a few. For 5 speeds, check out BBK, Hooker, MAC, Kooks, SLP, JBA, Bassani, and most header makers design their headers to line up only with their own pipes so be aware. If it's an automatic, then you'll have to go with MAC, Bassani, or Kooks. Same theory on headers and pipes applies here as well. But get the best header you can afford, along with the best coating you can afford.

ugh cheap go with Mac or BBK they're under 250 i think. Mac Performance - performance accessories for cars, trucks, and motorcycles

a header install should be no more then 75 -100 dlls.

where is the leak?
is it a direct bolt on exhuast or welded like us po folks lol. if theyre weld it any muffler shop should be able to help you for 30 - 50 dlls.

I have'nt actually seen the leak yet my buddy told me about it as he was putting on a fuel pump. I am wanting to just take the headers to the shop and say put the heders on and run me new pipe the right way. Maybe get them to cut the cats and mufflers out of the existing and then re-weld them back on to the new pipe they put on. With that said lets say I go with Mac Long tubes and have them bolt there new pipe to it and do the above work, what would I be looking at total (roughly). I am guessing that would be the cheapest way to go? It is a five speed by the way.

Be aware if you do that if they have a mandrel bender or not. Mandrel bends will keep the 2.5 inches diameter through the curves and most muffler shops don't use that kind. You best bet is to just buy the headers and get the same brand midpipe, then you should be able to use your flows with the dumps. Summitt has BBk long tubes and you can get a o/r X that fits it for under $500....

I recently bought a 1994 GT. I am looking at the Pypes Shorty Headers. Only problem is the are not available until late January. They cost about 235 but are stainless steel and look very well built. I am also planning to pring my pipes out in front of the raer tires. So far I have only found two companies that make a front in and front out muffler (roush style).

ugh that should run you about 150 with headers and x/h pipe but make sure you throw in the mufflers too, its always cheaper to install everything all at once.

just my .02 buy everything from the same brand (headers & x/h pipe), less of a headache and better for you if you happen to take it apart in the near future

for just a couple of dollars more why not go with long tubes??? all chrome headers always turn brown or rust in the future. i bought some shorties from friend that are chrome and i just wrapped in black header wrapps.
