Default Need more power on my 1995 Mustang GT

I was dead set on buying some wheels for my 95 Gt but i met up with some guys that had trick flow track heat intakes and cam plus the usual mods headers, bigger throttle body and CAI.

I have 600 dlls for Xmas and wanted to stretch the dollar to the max, i was wondering what upgrades i should get?

Full explorer engine swap? yay or nay?
Explorer intakes + heads? yay or nay?
New track heat trick flow intake? yay or nay?

im trying to make every penny count and i wouldnt mind going the junkyard parts route if that will provide more horse power. Cheap horsepower is the name of the game here guys

The most cost effective route would be the Explorer heads and intake. The most powerful intake (of those two) would be the TFS intake. A new TFS Track Heat intake is usually around $450. If you can find the Explorer heads and intake for $600, go for it. If not, go with the TFS intake and then get a 70mm throttle body. Good thing about these mods are that you can add them as you can afford them. Of course it'd be best to do the heads and intake at the same time but no biggie if you have to do things one at the time.

personally, i'm partial to the naturally aspirated route but if cheap hp, most bang-for-your-buck is the name of the game, then hook it up with a 100 shot of the juice. dollar for dollar per hp, it's hard to beat nitrous. you should be able to come in under your budget, too. especially if you install it yourself.

Nitrous is nice to have. But if you don't want to go that route and can find the explorer intake and heads, i would do that.

I've put together a combo that delivers very strong torque from low revs right up to the 5200rpm tranny shift point. I believe any other H/C/I combo is going to trade off torque up to 3500rpm to gain HP higher up. Mine isn't a fast track combo but it's sweet on the street.

I buy an Explorer motor for that $600 - and there is no need to port the lower intake for use on P heads.

If you can find an Explorer motor, buy it and use the heads/intake from it. The Explorer motor has a milder cam than the Mustang 5.0 so that won't be any use. Remember that you'll need special "P" headers to fit the GT40P Explorer heads.

Should be standard 94 headers, unless you use the P heads. Then you'll have to get P specific headers to avoid the headaches. If you do...
