I'm looking for a black cap to screw on in place of the radio antenna on my 2011 Mustang - something that is smooth and maybe a little bit rounded up into a shallow dome shape. Basically, something to use to avoid taking the antenna on and off when using a car cover (don't want to bother with a hole in the car cover either), and to keep water out of the antenna base. I don't use the radio, so no loss there.
if its just because of the cover, get one with a sock built in it for the antenna. My Covercraft Evolution fits it nice.
Thanks for the tip - but I'm hoping to avoid the need to worry about being careful to not bend the antenna (and I'm not crazy about the shorty replacements, either).

Take the removed antenna into any respectable hardware store and have them determine the thread pattern and size. Ask them to find you the largest rounded head short bolt that fits. Hacksaw it shorter to get even bigger head. Insert, tape off, spray paint to your liking... done! Okay, now you can laugh!

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I checked out Performance Parts Inc. and UPR, and don't think they have what I need. I was hoping that AM would (I'm a big AM fan since posting the AM calendar on the freezer in my garage)!
Anyway - I'm going to spend a little time at the hardware store this weekend, and see if I can come up with something close.
OK - here's something close to what I'm looking for. I put this together from a metric screw and rubber grommet I found at Ace Hardware (less than $4). The grommet needed a little modification. It's still a little too crude looking - but good enough to try out.
Found a flat head screw that looks a little better to me. I'll try this combination for awhile. Hopefully someone will start making a cap that looks like a miniature version of the satellite antenna, and screws on.
You just gave me inspiration.. I've been searching the net all morning for a replacement for our factory fender mounted mast antenna on the '66 Mustang... which if it looked like what you made, but maybe was chrome and contained a Sirius radio antenna inside...that would be sweet.... So that is what I am going to make.....
