Hello all, I'm new here so give me some slack if I don't post like others. I have a 2006 Pony package mustang and just had a remote starter installed. The installing company is well respected in the area but can't seem to make the starter work on my car. and said that they seem to be locked out of programing the computer. I took the car to my Ford dealer who enabled the spare key option in the computer but it still doesn't work and the remote starter causes the alarm to sound rather than start the car. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Karl

If you will look in your owners manual Ford states that aftermarket remote starter systems are not compatible with the security system in the mustangs. The company installing the remote starter system should have known that and I would ask that they remove same and return my money.

In your owners manual it clearly states that aftermarket remote starter
systems are not compatible with the security system in the mustangs. The company that installed the system should have known that and advised you up front. I would have them remove the starter system and refund your money.

Hello all again, not sure how to update my original message so I'm replying to it. Got the remote starter working after getting a Ford computer expert and my installer to work together, seems aftermarket starters will work with the right by-pass module and the user programing code enabled. Module comes from Directed Electronics and has to have the latest programing on it. Thanks for your input also Snake 42.

Well, good for you. I'm impressed that you had the patience to do some research and find a way around Ford's system. Congratulations!!!
