Default Swapping Radios, Possible? 2005 Mustang V6

I have an '05 V6 with a base stock radio. I am considering purchasing a take-off Shaker 500. Can I simply SWAP, remove the existing, unplug, plug in the 500, secure back in place and be ready to go?!? Is it that simple or are there things that won't work? Rewireing? Different harness? etc... I am willing to sacrafice a little poor sound with the speakers, but didn't know if there would be more stumbling blocks.

Please sound off, looking for opinions or actual experience as I'm SURE I'm not the first to consider this.

it should just plug in. the main harnesses are the same. but if you get a radio from an 07, then you'll need a chrysler antenna adapter for it....metra part number. 40-cr20

When i switched radios for my old Lancer i had to buy a mount for it so it would fit and some kind of wiring adaper thing so the plugs would fit. Worse case that should be all you have to do.

Make sure the connections in the back are the same. Ive heard (only heard) of people having connection/plug issues. Like the 03 wont fit in the 04's and vise versa, wierd huh? If the connections are the same in the back you should be good.

I just switched out the whole damn thing, speakers and everything, its was just easier, but thats just me.

I have a base 05 and hoping to swap out for a new 08 take off. Connections appear to be the same compared to other photos of the 05-06 radios. I had heard the antenna might be an issue. Thanks for the part number! Anyone else?

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I talked to Ford today. They are going to replace my "Deluxe" single CD radio with a "Premium" 6CD changer radio ~$875 installed. I was told that the speakers installed at the factory with the basic radio are the same as installed with the premium system.
