Has anyone ever installed square subwoofers between the back sweat and trunk opening? does anyone have pics? does anyone have any ideas for the best way to install them and mount them? is the carpeted piece that runs around the opening sturdy? is it metal?
sorry for the ratling off of questions. just looking for answers.

Basically I am planning on mounting two 10" square subs (model:LW10RDS) in the opening to the trunk. I think im going to mount them facing into the cab. They match the interior (red/Black) any mounting tips or other ideas? Also, I have a Rockford Fosgate 550S amp. anyone know the best way to get the most power out of those subs with that amp (through wiring?)?
I already have both ... and yeah your probably asking why im powering Sh!tty subs with s $400.00 amp? well i bought it off a friend for cheap and it works. the subs i got new for 24.95each.
If anyone has a wiring diagram for a dual channel amp and 2 DVC subs thats 2-4 ohm it would be the best thing anyone could give me. thanks!

I think the square subs you're talking about are Kickers, correct me if I'm wrong. I've never seen kickers in Mustangs. I suppose you could buy some that would fit in the trunk. You want them to be in the trunk but when you fold the seats down, have them facing the front, right? I've seen quite a bit of people with dual 12" Subs like that and it looks really good. Again never seen kickers like that.
Im a cheapo. there 1000Watt 10" legacy's red an blakc matching the interior

Yeah it can be done. You'll need to find out the volume requirements for that sub. Probably the smallest will be a sealed enclosure. The easiest will be a rectangular box. This is mine except if you want it facing the cab you'll just have to turn it around. You'll get more thump if it's facing the trunk though and I think it looks kind of retarded if its facing the cab....like you're showing off or something.
FACE THEM TOWARD THE TRUNK. Two reasons, first sound, second their Legacys, hide em. As far as looks it is a cool idea but your subs would perform best facing the rear of the trunk. Facing the subs toward the rear causes the trunk to act as a amphitheater. Check it out for yourself, put a sub facing forward through your seat hole(seats down) in to the cab and then try it with the seats up and the subs facing the rear of the trunk. For best results put them about 6-12" away from the rear. Night and day difference. To tell you how to get the most out of your amp I need to know two things. Are your speakers singal or dual voice coil and how many ohms are they?
they are single voice coil 4 ohm. i got them last night UPS and they were both damamged. the coils where touching the magnet, i tried one of them... they worked but thay havd cracks and garbles on high pass. i am pissed. i filed a claim with UPS for damage replacment. it apears that abusive handling of the package caused the magnet to shif or something.

The underlined is great advice, not always 100% true, but great advice.
Check out Car Alarm, Car Stereo, Mobile Video, and Cruise Control Info for Installers, its LOADED with useful info and online tools like speaker resistance calculators and wiring diagrams. You will find the answers to ALL car stereo system install questions. The ROCKFORD amp you have is 2 ohm stable and can be bridged to output all the power on one channel. To get the most out of your amp wire your legacys in "parallel" and run them on the briged output from your amp. If you do not know how look here: Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams, Two 4 ohm Single Voice Coil (SVC) Speakers for a diagram. Be advised your amp will get hotter(vs. running @ 4 ohms) and you will not have a seperate signals (right and left). Ditch those legacys, if you must have square subs check out some kickers on ebay. Square 10" solo-baric L5 can be found for about $100 ea. shipped. WELL WORTH IT, you can trust Kicker quality. If you end up getting new subs look for some with dual 4 ohm voice coils, that way each sub can be wired for 2 ohms and run on seperate channels(L\R).
I just threw in some Dual 12' subs that you get in the box at Best Buy. I got them as a gift in 06' so I figured I would put them to use. MAn it was a pain in the ass fitting that big box in the trunk but I got it in, I had to take out the carpet, back trunk plastic walls, the spare wood cover, and the spare tire itself, then once I got the subs in I had to put all that stuff back. It was worth it in the end, I got the subs hooked up to a Sony Xplod 1200w amp and the subs put out 1100w max. They sounds great!
