Default Question on connectors for head unit upgrade 1988 Mustang

My 18 year old and I pulled out the old head unit in his 1998 Mustang. Along with if came the CD player and we found an amp under the CD player. But the system does not appear to be a MACH system as there are only 4 full range 5x7 speakers, no tweeters, no other amps and no subwoofer.

So now we have 3 connectors in the dash.

1 long connector (goes to all the speakers)
1 long connector (from radio)
1 small square connector (from CD player)

So my quetsions are:

Are any of the "2 pc connector kits" that are sold on eBay for the 1998 Mustang work on this set up? It looks to me like maybe Ford also had a stand along head unit as well with no amp and maybe these are sued for the stand alone radio? Also, I assume the connector from the CD player is not used?

If there are no connectors available, I have identified the speaker wires - what wires would I tap into for power, illumination, ground and switched power?

Thanks

just about all those generation mustangs had factory amps in them. you can either bypass the amplifier or reuse it with the new radio. the metra 70-5510 harness should work for integrating with the factory amp.

Hi,
If we want to bypass the amp - we have aready removed it - do we just tap int the exisiting wiring or do some connections need to be reconnected for the alarm or other functions?

There is one connector that went into the amp - that has the 8 speaker wires for the 4 speakers. All I need is power, ground, illumination to power up the Apline unit.

If there are some connections between the 3 connectors that need to be reconnected, is there a harness kit to do that?

Thanks for your help,
TedT
