Default Mach 460 lacking bass... Seems common.

I recently purchased a 1997 Mustang GT Convertible (which I am enjoying ). Anyway, while driving home one day I turned off my head unit while trying to figure out how to use it (remember, new car) and when I turned it back on, I had no bass. At all. Now I highly doubt that both my amps decided to quit at once, so I'm trying to look for another solution. The head unit is a JVC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but I will try to post up if I run across something interesting.

Thanks!

I would check all your fuses in the amps. It is probably unlikely like you said that something fried just from turning it off. The amp could have been shut off when the radio turned off and when it came back on just blew a fuse. If everything is ok with the fuses. Try checking the settings on the radio. That is weird that you lost all bass just from the unit going off. Hope one of those two things are it.

Thanks. I had already checked all the fuses, and they're okay. So if anyone happens to know where to find a manual for a JVC KD-DV4200, or have had similar problems with one, tips would be awesome.

I think I'm going to start tearing into the wiring tomorrow, so I'm going to try and look for a wiring diagram right now.

Okay, I know this has taken me a while, but I've been pretty lazy.

Well it looks like whoever put in the aftermarket head unit did a sloppy, but working job. After staring at the wiring diagrams for about a good hour or so, I managed to figure out how the system works. All the amps are getting power ground and signal. The only thing is, the signal voltage is low (11.14v). Now I don't know how low it has to be for the amps not to power up, but as of right now, it's the only lead I've got.

The rest of the wiring actually seems good. Sloppy, but good. So right now I'm going to try giving the amps a good 12v signal and see what happens. I'll check back soon, seeing as I'm actually tying this while sitting in my car.
