i would honestly hinge my bet on the deck. i haven't had a whole lot of luck with alpine. i've had three. when they worked they sounded great, but they were problematic hence the fact that i had three through warranty. i even had one that would melt cd's...wtf. so just to let you know if music is playing on radio but not cd it's probably the deck
