Any Suggestions? Stereo Specific Altinator Questions?

I'm thinking my altinator is about to crap the bed. i've been working on a system for my car (had some troubles getting everything hooked, but any way my question is>>

Are there altinators or double altinators with a high output or with another output for just your amp?

i know if it had another output you'de have to regulate it and how about would you do that?

drop me some links and prices.

Thanks

Why not consider getting a high output alternator then connect an isolator to it and add a second battery to your car? Back in the good old days when I was running 2000+ watts of power, that is exactly what I would do for my sound system.

IIRC, the isolator will allow your alternator to charge both batteries yet your sound system will only run off of the battery that you dedicated to it. I went with a deep cycle marine type battery in my vehicle when I had the isolator and wired my amps up directly to it. Prior to going the HO alternator/isolator/extra battery setup, I had major issues with alternators crapping out.

Basically, you go Alternator to Isolator, then Isolator to each battery. The alternator charges each battery, yet each battery thinks it is the only battery in the system.

I would let the battery under the hood run the normal accessories, then would add a deep cycle marine battery to the trunk to wire up the amps. If you feel you need a stronger setup, you can always parallel batteries for the sound system. Of course doing so adds another horsepower robbing factor of weight!
