Default Advice on subwoofer in a 2005 Mustang

i want to put a subwoofer in the stang but have a few questions. ive found a 12 inch mtx subwoofer at MTX Thunderform Custom-Ford Mustang 2005-2006 coupe/conv't -w MTX Sub-SHIPPED FREE: MSA Custom Car Stereo
but does this subwoofer bolt in so i wont worry about it rolling around and it also says it can come with a 200 watt amp or 225 would that be enuff power for the one 12. what is a good setup i want a 10' or 12' in the trunk that will fit to the side like the link any advice?

went to the link and it looks to me like it should sit in there fine without rollling around. i'm sure it comes with some kind of hardware to put it in.
as far as 200 or 225 amps being enough... depends on how big you want your system. set up the right way it is plenty of power to have a good sounding stereo.

I think this is the install instructions for your sub enclosure. Yes it does have a mounting bracket.

I really like this box. You can get it without the speaker for 299.

I thought the one that was 500 included the amp. Just the speaker and the box is 350.

I had a self powered infinity sub unit that was pretty good. It wouldn't set off car alarms in the neighborhood but in cabin boom was great. I think it was about $350 they also had a larger unit with more umph. I bought it at a circuit city but read they reveiws on crutchfield first. I recommend them for more quality sound. But if you want to win a loudest stereo contest go with a seperate amp/ sub box set up.( The infinity unit did not take up very much room and could be controlled by the head uunit.)

Get a kicker L5 12" ($135 shipped on ebay), a 500-600w RMS Class D or Class BD amp (Rockford's p600.1 is a great selection, runs a couple hundred on ebay) and a 1cf sealed box ($35ish on ebay). Your system will pound and for not that much more than you are going to pay for the thunderform. There is actually a seller offering everything you need as a complete package...

CAR AUDIO SUBWOOFER+BOX+AMPLIFIER+AMP KIT BASS SYSTEM - eBay (item 350033408381 end time Mar-15-08 18:00:06 PDT)

If you don't like the box, you can find a smaller one or build your own, as they aren't hard to make

I am having a hard time deciding between the Scosche with my own sub, MTX Thunderform, Q-Logic with my own sub, JL Stealthbox and my own custom setup.... I am leaning towards building my own sealed box that fires directly into the passenger area with the back seats folded down versus purchasing something that hides out of the way in the trunk. I have even considered yanking the back seats out and putting my own custom box back there, but I am not yet convinced that I want to do that....

The only pre-fab boxes that have given me good results were those from Kicker and the JL Audio Stealthbox.... The only downside is you PAY for the JL Audio setup!

Now to weigh out the options of the ease of pre-fab versus the getting exactly what I want out of a custom setup. Decisions, decisions.........
