I have a base model radio in my 2006 Mustang, does anyone know if the Shaker 500 will "plug and play"? I just want the functionailty of the 6 disc changer not more speakers. Any help would be appreciated.

yes plug and play. I have done it. but now I am adding the woofer and upgrading the stock speakers. sounds like crap with just those speakers. I like my bass.

I am not an audiophile or guru but the Shaker 500 is not a slouch either. My F-150 stock stereo sounds like crap. The S500 is better than any other stock stereo I have ever had......except maybe the stereo in my Buick Riviera I used to have.
Im gonna expand this question a bit. I also have a 2006 mustang with base model audio system. If I buy a shaker 500 off e-bay and plug it in there no theft lock or anything like that? Also I sat in an 09 stang the other day and noticed the doors have sub's in them. Mine does not have this would it be very hard to add subs on the door. I know VERY VERY little about sound systems. Thanks!

Wow, I am counting down the days to be able to rip out the 8" subwoofers and amps up front. They are OK for what they are, but subwoofers they are not! The only bad thing is I probably won't be able to get around to it until March or April. I have WAY too many projects going on right now.

You are going to need, at a minimum, some new door panels to go with the Shaker 500 amps and subs. In fact, I think you will also need a Shaker 500 HU to control the subwoofer level!
Okie i get the shaker is plug and play but i just wanna make sure if I bought a used one off of ebay I wont be hit with some kinda theft lock or anything like that will I?
Thanks
There ARE no theft locks on these radios. so you can used it. I myself am waiting to put the woofers in. I have one door panel with the woofer, I need on more. Then I will buy an aftermarke amp, from there probably replace the stock speakers if needed

Like mentioned above, it is not entirely plug and play. The door panels have special speaker baffles for the subs. Without them, the doors will probably rattle and vibrate.
The shakers also have amps in the doors. Does the unit that you bought come with the door amps?

Just curious; Are you going to replace them with new woofers, or eliminate them completely?
