Default 2000 Mustang manual trans Audio Installation

I have an after market head unit installed in my mustang already but im going to be putting a subwoofer in. I installed this same system myself in my 1995 Grand Prix but I cannot figure out how to get the dash apart to get the head unit out to connect the RCA cables and remote turn on wire. I heard you have to remove the CD player below if first with special U shaped tools, but I cant get that out either. There are 2 screws under the aftermarket unit that appear to be holding the trim around it in place. Do these need to be removed? Help Please! Thanks.

howdy.

there are 3 screws that hold the faceplate/bezel in place, and 2 pressure clips.

1) take out the radio and the cdplayer. you need the special ford radio removal tools, about $5 at autozone. put those where they need to go, one on each side, and push them in until they pop. then, pull them away from eachother gently and pull the radio, the radio/cd player will come out. disconnect them and set them aside.

2) under the radio and before the cd player, there are 2 screws that need to be removed. either use the special torx bit or use a 10mm socket.

3) see that part of the bezel that extends all the way inside the dash? on the left (drivers side) this is another 10mm/torx screw that needs to be removed. take that one out.

4) gently pry the bezel off. there are 2 pressure clips that hold it in by the a/c climate controls.

and that should be all you need to take them off.
