Default 2005 Mustang Shaker 500 speaker problems

I've owned my baby since brand new and don't listen to excessively loud music. That being said I have had a subwoofer and a rear deck speaker blow. I've decided that since the factory an't give me adequate speakers I'll replace them with Pioneer TS-A6882R 6 by 8s. Does anyone know what it takes to remove the factory speaker? What I mean is, do I go in from he trunk and find 4 screws or do I have to come in from the cabin side and somehow remove that black grill? Thanks in advance for the help

you gotta take the whole box out...if i remember right its the main screws that connect the box to the side and bottom of your trunk.....pull the box out, disconnect your wires, and pull out the small screws for the sub you need removed. its a little bit of a pain but to take it out and put it back in youre lookin at 45min. i took mine apart so see wat was wrong with my sub(shaker100 blew the back speaker, got it replaced under warranty) i also was tryin to remove the plastic cover over the sub, which cant be done.

be aware but wither the mach 460 or the shacker setups are like 6-ohms, mabe they both are. Your aftermarket speakers are 4-ohms.

It's a coupe. I don't have the rear subwoofers, it's only a mach500, year 2005. What I mean is the 6x8 speakers that are behind the rear passengers heads. They're 4 ohm 25 watt speakers

I had a problem with a door subwoofer blowing and got that replaced under warranty. I could get this one fixed under warranty but I tihnk I'd rather step up in quality.

Thanks man I'll give that a try. And I'll be sure to bring my pillow, it'll probably take me a while.

I replaced the rear deck speakers in my 2006 Mustang GT and from memory:

1. Unsnap the grills, just pull on them
2. I used a #7 (I think) socket driver Torx bit to undo the factory speakers
3. Unplug speakers in the trunk
4. remove speakers from the top

If you have a 2007 through 2008 stang, the whole top piece has to come off and requires disassembly of a lot of other stuff.

ETA: I actually have the Crutchfield supplied instructions that I can make a PDF out of, assuming that I don't violate their copyrights or anything.

What'd you replace the speakers with? Pioneer seems to be the only credible company that makes a 6x8

I just replaced my headunit and all four speakers this weekend. I replaced the speakers with some 5x7 Infinity Reference (60 watt vs Ford's 25 watt) series speakers I already had. Fit just fine.

5x7's fit in the same spot as those 6x8's are? btw how do you like the 14" antenna you have? I like the look of those but I also like having reception. I guess my question is "how's the reception?"
