yeah you need both but they get sold together. you bought the wrong harness. one plug is used for power and the other one is used for the speakers.

don't you need a long black one that similar to the grey? or have they changed that?

Which factory stereo is it? You either need the 6 pin or a amplifier integration harness if its a Much unit.

If it is a Mach stereo you have two issues you need to address. FIRST, you will need the "amp integration harness" to connect the stock factory amps to the new deck. (Metra and Schoche both make a integration harness.) Second you need to buy some bass blockers and wire the tweeters directly to the deck\head unit. IMO IT IS BEST JUST TO BUY AFTERMARKET SPEAKERS here is a link to a similar thread where I explain why I dislike the "integration of the factory amps & speakers. This should explain, http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...tml#post932494

Just had a thought on this, I installed two different Alpine stereos that had internal amplifiers that were turned off, I had to go in the settings and turn it on. Other than that if you did not have a Mach system it should all be straight forward, the white, grey, purple & green speaker wires that leave your head unit should be wired to the "adapter harness" and then pluged into the factory plugs.
