1986 Mustang GT Vert. Hello everyone, I am having a problem with my left rear speaker and am not sure where to start. I have taken the panel off and tested the speaker (on a house stereo and the right rear speaker wires). I have confirmed that the speaker works and that it is most likely a power/wiring issue. I am not sure how to test if the wires are getting power, or even how to trace where the problem is. If someone could lend me a hand on where to start looking or testing that'd be great. Thanks

The wiring is usually run under the carpet so it's kinda involved to trace those wires.

But what you could do is remove the right speaker and test those wires for voltage, that way you get a baseline reading to go by. Then test the wires on the other side and see what you get. You could route other wires back to the speaker and connect them up behind the stereo, thereby having the best connection possible.

use a multi-meter or a 12 volt light bulb. also check if the wire harness is somehow shifter out of your head unit. you'll need the ford removal keys to get the radio out, you can pick them up at walmart or a car audio place for $5-$10. I think thats how your headunit comes out. and everything bhind it is fairly simple onl 2-3 harnesses and they can only go in one way. also remove it slowly sometimes the antenna wire can be tight and come loose.
