Default 2000 Mustang speaker problem

I recently purchased a 2000 Mustang V6 that was a salvage title. I have an aftermarket Alpine CDA-9884 that I installed myself and it is not the MACH system. Ever sicne I bought the car I've been having problems with the driver front speaker. All of the other speakers in the car sound fine but this one speaker does not reach the same volume level as any of the others. SO While I have the volume turned up to 10 on the stereo with this speaker it sounds like it is at about 2. I've taken off both door panels and interchanged the speakers themselves and regardless of which speaker is where the driver door speaker still sounds the same.

So I decided to call up Crutchfield and see what they thought could be the issue. The guy I talked to was very helpful and told me that in my car there is a factory installed amplifier, even though it is not the MACH system, and that it sounded like the amp was going bad on that side. He suggested that I buy a bypass harness to bypass the factory amp and it should do the trick.

Has anyone else had a similar issue like this? Do all mustangs come with a factory amp regardless of whether they have the MACH system or not? Any kind of advice for what I can do to fix the issue would be great because I am planning on upgrading all the speakers but I don't want to throw my money away if I don't have front driver door speaker fixed.

yes all mustangs have a factory amplifier located below the radio sitting right on the transmission hump.

my g/f just bought a 2000 mustang v6 and i installed an alpine 9886 in it. the guy that had it before hacked the stereo system big time. if you remove the lower cd player, you will see a silver amp with a heat sink on it. the plugs are facing towards the firewall. theyre a pain to get out, but the larger one goes directly to the speakers. you can buy the metra harness 70-5513 which is the single plug to eliminate the amp, or you can get the 70-5514 which has the power plugs and all. you can more easily find the 5514 though.....my work (best buy) stocks them. on the eliminator plug, cut off the smaller end of the plug and wire the harness directly to the alpines speaker wires, color to color. then just plug it into the plug you pulled off the factory amp. it bypasses it and you're good to go.

if you have any questions pm me.
