I was just wondering if anyone managed to squeeze a 15 subwoofer into the S197 body style? I am thinking of going with a 15" Solobaric L5 if my measurements aren't cutting it too close, but, I wanted to know if anyone else managed to squeeze one into their late model stang.
The sick thing that got me on the 15" kick was that I NEVER had anything bigger than a 12" sub in any of my vehicles....
It will be a custom box but I have not made my way back there to take any measurements yet. Another option I was thinking of was to pull the back seats completely and use part of the back seat area and part of the trunk. If I decide to go the uber custom route, I may hold off until October so I don't sweat as much.
Of course, my other choice is to be completely lazy and use one of the pre fab setups that goes where the Shaker 1000 sub would have gone.
i have enough trouble with my two 10 inch subs i can't imagine the headache of a 15 inch one trying to fit in my car other then putting it in the floor of the trunk and even then.... where's the trunk space for important things like bodies!
..... kidding... no one report me

haha my friend managed fit a 15" solobaric L7 in his 92 corolla. he took out the spare tire and built a false floor. he dynamatted the crap out of the tire well and sealed up the box around it. that dang thing hit so hard that he had to loosen his trunk lid and realign it periodically. i think it can be easily done if you build a false floor, but then you have 0 trunk space.
Dang it, just as I was getting ready to start pulling the trigger on a sub, my disposable income ended up getting disposed. This will end up working out better in the end because I am going to make this a winter project.
2 12" L5's will be louder...and are almost equivalent to round 15" subs in the amount of air they move. I have 2 12" L5's and a rockford 10001.1bd that will be going in the back of my Bullitt when I get my signing bonus in the next couple of weeks. They sell boxes that will fit them on Ebay too if you have them cut for L5's instead of round subs.
The only issue is I am looking to put a box in the trunk that is 2.0 cubic feet or less. Two of anything is going to be pushing it, unless I go with 8" or 10" subs.
Don't get me wrong, I know the 12" L7 has a minimum size of .88 cubic feet, but it would probably play a little deeper in a 1.5 cubic foot box. If I were to go with a single 15" L5 or L7, I would put it in a 2.0 cubic foot box minimum.
At least I have plenty of time to agonize over my decision since I am taking care of some things around the house! Then again, I will probably sneak in a component or two here and there until I decide on the actual subwoofer. I am thinking this will be my route: better alarm, wiring, amp, then subwoofer when I finally decide on it!
Slight update, I ended up getting a brand new in box Power 1000 from the 25 to Life series on closeout, so now I am in the market for a decent sub to hook up to the subwoofer channel!
Anyone know if the shaker 500 car has the rear sub wiring or is it added only for the 1000. I know the rear amps and speakers are not there but hoping the signal source wiring is. I designed a custom box using ISD software for 2 12s @1600 W. It is 15" long, 16" wide, 13" deep. Tucks into pass side trunk corner and doesn't extend beyond vertical trunk opening.
