2001 Mustang GT mach stereo sub & amp install

what is the black box located between the amps under the rear deck? can i bolt my amp to this to keep it off the floor out of the way?
i want to mount 2 8" tubes in the trunk and an amp, then if not sattisfied ill replace speakers as i go

I'm not sure what the black box is but I know with those Mach sound systems it's a real pain to replace your speakers.
