i just picked up a car with the mach 460 stereo..95 gt, when i turn the radio on it plays for like a second then i get loud humming out of the speakers, its a bone stock stereo. it seems to vary with engine speed just wondering where to start looking

Sounds like a failed power capacitor inside the radio. They are not user replaceable unless you are handy with a soldering iron and have the radio schematic in order to pinpoint the correct one.
