Default Best Aftermarket Car Alarm: '07 Conv.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to find opinions on what would be the best aftermarket car alarm for my 2007 Convertible V6.

I'm currently installing a new head unit that includes a 7" Touch Screen and my friends have been telling me that they're stolen pretty often. I've also been told that the stock alarm on my car is pretty much a joke.

Anything that isn't over $200 would be great, but you can feel free to share alarms that exceed that price if you think it's really worth the money.

Thanks for your input.

I put in a Viper that goes off even if a hand goes into the air space over the car and even beeps when someone gets too close to the convertible. For additional security I put in a hidden toggle switch which cuts off the fuel.

Everyone's been saying that Viper is the best choice and to use the fuel toggle switch, so that seems to be the best path. I appreciate your input.

One question: How would I be able to find a Viper alarm that goes off if someone puts their hand in the air space?

Thanks again,
Gotadime

A field disturbance sensor detects movement in the area surrounding the vehicle and a motion sensor can detect motion within the vehicle. They are both add ons for the alarm.

All the features on the video are available for all the viper alarms, you might want to consider getting a two way system too. It costs a little more but it will alert you thru the remote if your alarm is going off and you are too far away to hear it.

Yeah, I was just using that video as an example actually. I was planning on the two way. But thanks for letting me know, nonetheless.

Do you know if they're easy to install or is it something that I should have a professional do?

If you have experience and can get the wiring diagrams you need it's not impossible, but the best thing would be to have it installed by someone certified. Viper won't warranty their alarms if you don't have it professionally installed. Costs a little more, but if something goes wrong....

Right. Well, I'm no expert so I'll just try to get some deal that comes with free install.

Thanks for the help.

How much does the viper alarm run?

They vary from around $150-$200 to $400-$500 depending on what you want.

They're definitely the best and are worth the cash paid.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely check out Best Buy. Would you recommend the 3202v for a convertible?

uhh im not to sure because i dont know how sensitive it is..it says it detects light and hard impacts to the car but with a convertible all it takes is a knife which is virtually silent..a motion detector would be what you wanted..but unless you live or have your car in a bad area i personallys would think that it would be a good enough deterant from someone wanting to jack your car..some nice 20% tint will keep people from knowing whats in your car too..i know the tint and that alarm is good enough for me..also for $70 less they have one that doesnt have the 2 way but is virtually the same thing so if your on a budget thats a nice alarm to..thats the one i used to have

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll get a 2-way motion detecting alarm (I kind of want to be notified). Thanks for your help.
