Default Gutting Mach 460 in a 03 GT

Hey guys,

This weekend I'll be attempting the install of my new sound system. I have a 2003 GT with the Mach 460 and I'll be removing it completely. I'll be replacing it with a Pioneer Avic D3x h/u, 6.5" Infinity Kappa components in the doors, 6x8" Infinity Kappas in the rear deck. The speakers will be powered from an 4-channel Alpine F450 amp and I'm also going to add my 10" MTX Sledgehammer sub powered by a MTX TA4252 amp.

Here are my questions:
Where can I find a wiring diagram for the 2003 GT Mach 460?

While I'll be removing the stock h/u, speakers and amplifiers, am I better off just leaving the stock wires in there in case I ever want to put it back in? As opposed to ripping them out? I plan to rewire everything.

What's the best way to route the wires? I plan on mounting both amps to the rear fold down seats but I'll have to run wires into the doors for the front speakers.

Anybody have hints/suggestions on mounting the new component tweeters in the stock location? I know its not a direct fit so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Finally when I install the h/u, should I solder the wires from the back of the head unit to the wires coming from the car?

Thanks!

I have the wiring diagram, I will try and locate it and send it when I get home from work but you should not need it. I think you can find it at Request help: Mach 460 pinouts (Some Pinouts included, pictures included). Click on the thumbnail links. The only factory wires you are going to need are 12+ main, 12+ignition and ground. If you pick up a wire harness adapter plug you can wire it to your new stereo and then just plug it into the factory plug. You can find a adapter harness at stores like Best Buy, Circuit City or mobile stereo shop.

Replacing the mach system is easy as long as you replace the speakers too. I see you have a new stereo and speakers, that is excellent, integrating the factory speakers and amps is a pain in the rear and sounds like junk.

You are going to need to run new speaker wires from your new stereo to the four componets. The factory speaker wires are connected to amps that are no longer going to be used.

If you have any more questions feel free to PM.

I would recommend using the harness adapter so the factory wiring does not have to be cut or spliced. Yes you can solder the wires but it is hard to do in that small space and it will not benifit you. If you are not going to use a harness adapter any crimp connector will work. I prefer the ones below, you can get them at RadioShack and most hardware stores.

Thanks for the response. Which wiring harness adapter are you referring to?

Metra is one company that makes\sells them, here is a link, Metra Electronics - Fit Guide. It is metra part# 70-5520, Circuit City sells metra products.

Scosche makes one also but their website is giving the wrong part#.
