Default 1995 Mustang stereo hook up problem

ok i bought a 95 gt today and he pulled his stereo out and now that i put one in i cant get anything to work had the amp behind the stereo has aftermarket speakers has the square black plug that i wired all the speakers to.. and the gray but i get no sound out of the speakers comes on just no sound any suggestions or help would be great..thanks

so he had an amp and took it out right? Or did he leave the amp in there?

well the factory amp was there but not pluged in.. the ones that go to it has dust on them and looked like they hadnt been for awhile.. so im trying to figure out what im doing wrong.. i figure if not ill rewire the whole car not wanting to but if thats what it takes i will.. thanks for any info..

you did hook up the blue/white remote wire in the harness so that the factory amp will turn on, right?
if not, you wouldn't get any sound
if you did, and it still doesn't work...the factory amp is probably toast, or that wire has a bad connection
