Default Running Power Wire for Amps in S197 (with pics)

Started the stereo install today. I'm using 4ga wire for power to the amps. I haven't seen any pics or read much on how to run power wires to the trunk, so here's what I did. Hope it helps.

I read a post saying you have to drill a hole in the firewall, or run the wire underneath the car. That's simply not the case. Running it inside the car is easy.

1. Turn the wheels all the way to the left. (someone said jack the car up and remove the tire, but I think that's unnecessary).

2. Remove 4 screw clips holding the inner wheel well on (2 on top, one on the frame, one on the firewall).

3. Pull the inner firewall loose creating about 4-6 inches of space between it and the firewall.

4. Feed your power wire through an opening just beneath the battery (it comes out by an A/C line), then run it behind the battery box and up to the battery.

5. There is a large grommet on the firewall. It is just above the top of the carpet, to the far right in the interior. You can't miss it from the wheel well.

6. Using a razor knife, cut a small hole in the grommet. Use a screwdriver to expand it until the power wire fits through tightly. Then pull it all the way through.

7. Re-attach the wheel well.

8. On the interior, pop the sill and kick panel loose, then pull the bottom of the back seat. Run power wire down the side beneath the carpet, then beneath the back seat. While you're at it, you might as well run a power turn on wire for the amps along with it.

9 Re-attach the trim and you're done.

10. Remember, don't run power and sound (RCA or Speaker) wires down the same side. You'll get noise.

Here are some pics! Hope this helps!

huh. can't say that ive ever seen it done like that but as long as the wire is away from metal and anything that could wear through the sheath and ground out. Its all good. cheers to finding an easier way.
