I'm kicking myself pretty bad over the fact I got the base sound system, and after market stuff really doesn't have the look I'm going for.

So does anyone know if I bought the shaker 1000 head unit and the rear subwoofers/4 amps off eBay, would it be possible to install them in my car? I have the regular old 4 speaker system. I know people will probably just say to go with an aftermarket system but I would definitely rather have the genuine Ford system.

I recently bought a '06 vert with the base radio. I thought no big deal I'd upgrade to a shaker 500 set up. Like you, I wanted to stay stock- mostly for resale reasons.
I went on line & bought a 2007 head unit, the two OEM amps, and door panels with the stock subs. I expected a simple radio swap. WRONG !!!!. to get the wiring you'll need requires either buying more harness than you need from Ford (not cheap & not easy to replace the whole dash harness) or talking a salvage yard into leaving the OEM conectors on each end of the amps when they remove them from the car. Many sources for OEM stuff on the web are not salvage yards so they do not have the cars or pieces of the wiring to sell. when you buy the amp or radio that's all you get.
Ok. I collect all the components and start to install. I had to make my own harness for the amps for reasons above. not that hard but you better know how to read a schematic or you could easily get the speakers and amps out of phase - which results in poor sound quality. Once wiring & amps installed I connected the radio. There is a connector from the back of the radio that communicates with the car's ECM. the ECM did not recognize the new radio so it would not let it load CDs. Also, the 2007 radio has a different antennae connection than the '05 & '06 version. So I had to buy a new antennae harness.
By leaving the communication harness unplugged, the radio now will play CDs but for some reason the radio tuner is not working correctly - I get no AM and only FM below 100.???? Ford has made this a huge PITA.
If you step up to a shaker 1000 set up you're adding 4 subs to the truck that are not on the 500 system. In hindsight, an aftermarket system would be easier, quicker and probably sound better. If you decide to go ahead, email me and I'll send you the schematics and sources for the hard goods. Good Luck
