What exactly is involved in re-programming a Shaker Head Unit ?

I just installed a used 2008 Shaker 500 head unit in my 06' vert and it works great. My only installation glitch was that the Shaker 500 antenna port did not accept a Motorola style plug. I finally found a thread here where the correct adapter was stated, a Metra [ MET 40CR20 ]. (It's actually a Chrysler OEM style plug! $16 at Circuit City)

Are there any Ford employees here that may know how exactly does the Ford dealer program the radio? Is it hooked up to a machine in the back or is there a sequence of buttons pushed without removing th radio? Does anyone know the full menu of the 2008 Shaker 500 ?

I believe it is done thru the OBDII port.
